all about...

Parker Newman

I am a passionate and determined senior who thrives in both hands-on and academic environments. Growing up with a love for outdoor activities like snowboarding and skateboarding, I've learned the importance of balance, perseverance, and focus. These activities allow me to bond with friends and family while challenging myself physically. I’m also proud of my creative endeavors, like building a half pipe with my dad and taking art classes over the years to expand my skills. Throughout my high school years, I've balanced work, school, and extracurriculars, constantly pushing myself to grow. Although I have ADHD, I've developed strategies to stay focused, seeking out smaller, more personal learning environments where I can thrive. As I look ahead to college, I’m excited to take on new challenges and continue growing in both my personal and academic life.

I'm really passionate about snowboarding and have become extremely skilled over the years. It challenges me both physically and mentally, teaching me balance, focus, and perseverance. I love the thrill of the sport and being part of a family that shares my love for the outdoors and snowboarding.

Who Am I?

hacker

I am a passionate hacker who loves building computers from the ground up, using various components to create custom systems. My curiosity drives me to take apart computers, understand their inner workings, and rebuild them in unique ways. Beyond hardware, I also enjoy building software mods, including custom game modifications for Minecraft and Roblox. I have learned the art of reverse engineering games, allowing me to create personalized modifications and gain a deeper understanding of how these systems operate. I also have an interest in cybersecurity which was sparked by my dad, who runs his own company in the field. I'm interested in possibly exploring a future in protecting systems and data from cyber threats.

Who Am I?

As a maker, I've explored building 3D models and bringing them to life through 3D printing. I enjoy tinkering with electronics, using Arduino to create custom remote controls for my various electronics and computers. I'm also learning how to leverage microcontrollers to design and build other unique devices, constantly experimenting and expanding my skills in electronics and creative problem-solving.

My Portfolio

ink drawing

This ink drawing of rapper Ken Carson captures his bold and edgy persona with sharp, dynamic lines and intricate details. The use of ink allows for high contrast, highlighting the intensity of his facial expressions and the texture of his clothing. By focusing on the shadows and contours, the piece reflects the raw energy that Ken Carson brings to his music and performances. The black-and-white medium strips away distractions, drawing attention to his unique style and attitude, making the artwork both visually striking and a reflection of the artist's vision.

My Portfolio

half pipe

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is building a half pipe in my backyard with my dad during quarantine. It was a challenging project that required careful planning, teamwork, and persistence. This accomplishment is meaningful to me because it wasn’t just about completing a physical structure, it was about bonding with my dad, learning new skills, and creating something from scratch that I could enjoy and be proud of. The sense of achievement I felt when it was done was incredible, and it reminds me that with dedication and effort, I can take on any project or challenge.

My Portfolio

Alaska Wood Art Peice

This piece is inspired by a photo I took during a hike in the forests of Alaska, capturing the serene beauty of a river winding through the lush landscape. I painted it using oil paints on a small piece of log, adding an organic element that connects directly to the scene's natural setting. The texture of the wood complements the vivid greens and blues, making this painting not only a visual reflection of the moment but also a tactile reminder of the wilderness that inspired it.
